Switch 2 Setup Open source · Self hosted

Switch 2 setup wizard 起動

Prepare SmileBASIC, connect your host, and verify each stage.

Current capability: the upstream procedure verifies brief FS execution. A Switch 2 EmuHub app loader is still under development.
STEP 1 OF 4

Check device

Read these values on your own console. A website cannot detect its firmware or installed games over USB.

No device values confirmed yet.
STEP 2 OF 4

Prepare SmileBASIC

The upstream bootstrap must exist as NS2 in program slot 0. There is no published SmileBASIC download key.

  1. Open SmileBASIC 4.4.9 on system 23.0.1.
  2. Transfer the pinned bootstrap.bas ↗ into slot 0, then save it as NS2.
  3. For automatic typing, use a USB device that presents itself as a keyboard. A small HID-capable board avoids changing your computer's boot security, but its Switch 2 transfer still needs physical verification. A regular keyboard requires manual entry. A USB cable between Chrome and the console cannot do the transfer.
Only have a Mac, cable, and Switch 2? There is no verified automatic route with those alone that leaves the Mac's security settings untouched. You can pause here; the LAN host is ready once NS2 is saved.
Research option: experimental Apple silicon Mac sender
  1. Get mac2jb ↗. In its folder run bash scripts/check.sh and make.
  2. Review the project's USB gadget driver requirements. On supported Macs this means Recovery → Reduced Security → allow user-managed kernel extensions, then build/install and approve usbgadget.kext. The maintainer's successful test had SIP disabled; the project says that is not proven necessary on every Mac. Do not disable SIP automatically.
  3. Connect a data-capable USB-C cable, focus an empty SmileBASIC editor, then run bash scripts/test-usb.sh. Continue only if hello appears on the console.
  4. Run bash scripts/send.sh --dry-run, then bash scripts/send.sh --delay-ms 50. Inspect the transferred program and save it as NS2. With the full game, this is a one-time transfer.

This Mac sender is hardware-specific and has not been verified on every Apple silicon model. A website cannot install its driver or change Mac boot security.

STEP 3 OF 4

Connect local host

Run the local companion on a Mac, Linux computer, or NAS the console can reach. The public website is the guide; the companion runs the actual upstream host process.

STEP 4 OF 4

Choose what to run

Only the upstream FS demo has a published, testable payload today. More choices will unlock after a real Switch 2 loader and package pass physical tests.

FS execution demoAvailable · pinned upstream procedure
General homebrew loaderIn development · no verified public install path
EmuHub client installIn development · requires a verified loader and client package

The host will print a fresh V=START(...) command. Enter the short commands on the Switch 2 only when this page prompts you.

Complete the setup steps first.

What happens on the Switch 2?

01

Save the bootstrap once

Use a USB HID typing device to transfer upstream bootstrap.bas into SmileBASIC slot 0 and save it as NS2. The full game can keep it for later runs.

02

Start your local host

Run the companion on a computer or NAS reachable by the console. Select that host's actual IP, then press Start FS demo in its local wizard.

03

Enter short commands

Restart the console, open SmileBASIC Direct mode, then enter LOAD "TXT:NS2", RUN, and REMOVE NSR,&H60000000,&H3FFFFFFF separately. After the expected Out of memory message, enter the fresh V=START(...) line shown by the host.

04

Read the real result

Only the upstream host's verified completion counts as a pass. Restart the console when finished. This is an FS demo, not an EmuHub or emulator install.
